New Webmail

The old webmail has been replaced with the new webmail. This became necessary as the University community usage of the webmail services had increased over the years resulting in the old webmail not being able to handle the increased traffic. This resulted in some mails not being delivered or sent.

If you are having problems with how to things in the new webmail, kindly have a look under the Using Network Resources section for a quick HowTo. If you can not find a solution there, report it through the RT (Request Tracker) system here.

The new webmail is a more stable and robust mailing platform which provides other functionalities and features that were not present in the old webmail. Some of the features and functions that can be found in the new webmail are:

Help Desk and Support Platform

The ticketing system which has been introduced to improve the support services provided by the ICT technical  services unit has seen an increase in the patronage by the University community.

The platform allows one to log in with his/her UEW username and password to report a problem or request for the assistance of an ICT technical personnel.

Password Policy Implementation

The Network Services team will be implementing the University's password policy from the beginning of 2012  (January 5th, 2012) so all users are encouraged to ensure that their passwords fit the following minimum criteria:

Creation of Mailing Lists

The UEW mailing system has mailing list functionality added to it. Secretaries of the various committees and groups are requested to compile the email addresses of the respective members to be used in the creation of mailing lists. Some groups have already being using this service to distribute minutes of their meetings as well as meeting invitations and announcements.
